Terms of use
Jotter · last updated 28 October 2026
What Jotter is
Jotter is software that schools use to keep fees, attendance, report cards and pupil records in one place, with a parent portal for families. These terms are between Jotter and the school that uses it.
Your school’s account
- The school decides who gets an account and what each person can see and do.
- Each person keeps their own password private and does not share their account.
- The school is responsible for what its staff enter, and for having a good reason to keep each piece of information (see the privacy notice).
- Please tell us straight away if you think someone has got into an account who should not have.
Your school’s records
Your school’s records belong to your school. Jotter looks after them on your behalf, only uses them to run and support your school’s system, and never sells them or shares them for advertising. Each school has its own separate system, and records are backed up every week.
Plans and payment
The plan your school uses and its price are as agreed in your quote. If a price is going to change, we will tell you before it does.
Keeping Jotter running
We work to keep Jotter running and safe, and we fix problems as quickly as we can. Like any online service, it may sometimes be slow or unavailable, for example during an internet problem or while an update is made. Jotter is not responsible for losses caused by such interruptions, or by information typed in wrongly.
Using Jotter fairly
Please only use Jotter for running your school. Do not try to get into another school’s records or parts of Jotter you have not been given, or use it to send messages people have not agreed to receive.
Stopping
Your school can stop using Jotter by telling us. If you ask, we will give you a copy of your school’s records before the account is closed.
Changes
If these terms change, we will update this page and the date at the top, and tell schools about anything important.
